Founder Story

Sugi Tree Studio was founded in 2016 by Tanya Dzera in Toronto, Canada.

After planting over 200,000 trees over 3 tree planting seasons in Northern Ontario, Tanya was heavily inspired by this experience and trees were a huge source of inspiration for the name, Sugi Tree Studio!

The search was on for the perfect "tree" related name! Upon reading the story about the thousands of Sugi trees in Nikko Japan, Tanya knew it would be a great fit for an eco-conscious brand that gives back to wildlife rescue.

Just as the hundreds of thousands of Sugi trees were planted for future generations to enjoy, the same idea resonates with the Sugi Tree Studio brand, through both giving back and the products themselves.

Sugi Tree Studio aims to combine eco-conscious product design with artisanal quality that you will love & gives back to wildlife rescue with every purchase.

"My goal is to create & sell products that do not leave a large carbon footprint so you can feel good about giving that gift or treating yourself, knowing that your purchase isn't going to harm the planet for future generations. Being a visual arts major, creating things is a passion for me as well but I wanted to make sure I was creating products that were high quality, long lasting and easy on the planet. " - Tanya Dzera

All of the natural candles, bath potions and skincare products are handmade by Tanya in Toronto, Ontario. The biodegradable cork yoga mats are also designed by Tanya - there are over 12 whimsical designs to check out! 

All the handmade goods are made in small batches and slow, ethical consumption in general is emphasized!
